I am a senior researcher and consulting advisor with over 13 years of experience working with civil society, donor organizations, multilateral institutions, governments and academia. Previous employers include the World Bank, BRAC, USAID, UNDP, Oxfam, and others.
I have extensive experience with research, project management, strategic planning, policy analysis & advice, and program design. My major accomplishments are co-authoring the governance and justice background paper for the Five Year Plan of Bangladesh, developing a strategic plan on justice for BRAC, and completing a study with over 10,000 civil servant survey respondents in Comoros. My main specializations lie in three areas: 1. Governance (participatory & demand-side governance, institutions & bureaucracy, anti-corruption measures, political economy and civil society-business- government relations); and 2. Labor (regulatory enforcement, worker support programs, labor policy, international supply chains, civil society-private sector relationships).
I possess advanced skills in qualitative research
methods - including semi-structured interviews, focus group discussions,
and case studies - and am adept in quantitative and survey methods as
well. I have extensive experience with
managing teams and engaging with government officials at the most senior
level.
I authored or co-authored over twenty articles, working papers, books and reports. Research topics include labor & employment policy, international supply chains, civil service reform, e-government, decentralization, the governance of nutrition, health & education, crime & politics, justice and energy. I completed a Ph.D. in Political Science at MIT and an M.P.A./I.D. at the Harvard Kennedy School.
